Australia’s Clare Valley Winery Wins Global Wine Tourism Award for Culinary Innovation - Liz Palmer

Australia’s Clare Valley Winery Wins Global Wine Tourism Award for Culinary Innovation

Bush deVine Restaurant at Paulett Wines has received the 2027 Global Best Of Wine Tourism Award for Culinary Experiences, presented during the Great Wine Capitals Annual Conference in Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand.

The award recognizes the restaurant’s innovative integration of native Australian ingredients, sustainable practices and carefully considered food-and-wine pairings.

Central to the experience is the restaurant’s bush-tucker garden, which supplies native ingredients incorporated into dishes specifically developed to complement Paulett Wines. Its connections with the local Aboriginal community further reflect the importance of Indigenous food heritage and regional identity.

Why This Matters for Global Wine Tourism

The Clare Valley achievement illustrates a significant evolution in wine tourism: gastronomy is becoming an increasingly powerful expression of destination identity.

By connecting native ingredients, cultural heritage, sustainable hospitality and estate-grown wines, Bush deVine demonstrates how regional restaurants can create authentic, place-based visitor experiences that extend well beyond the traditional tasting room.

For wine destinations worldwide, this recognition provides a compelling example of how culinary innovation and local storytelling can strengthen destination differentiation and international appeal.
