From McLaren Vale and Barossa to the Adelaide Hills and Clare Valley, South Australia’s 2027 shortlist demonstrates how wine tourism is evolving beyond the cellar door.
South Australia continues to strengthen its position on the international wine tourism stage, with 11 wineries and wine tourism businesses shortlisted for the 2027 Best Of Wine Tourism Awards.
Part of the Great Wine Capitals Global Network, the awards recognise excellence and innovation in wine tourism across some of the world’s leading wine regions. In South Australia, the programme is delivered through Adelaide’s membership of the global network, with the 2027 awards presented in partnership with DrinkWise.
What makes this year’s shortlist particularly interesting is its diversity.
The finalists extend across six South Australian wine regions and Adelaide, demonstrating that contemporary wine tourism is no longer defined solely by the traditional cellar-door tasting.
Today, the strongest wine destinations are integrating wine, gastronomy, architecture, landscape, accommodation, art, culture and memorable visitor experiences into a much broader destination proposition.

that are shortlisted for the 2027 awards are:

- BK Wines — Adelaide Hills
- Chateau Tanunda — Barossa
- d’Arenberg — McLaren Vale
- Home of Plenty — Currency Creek
- Jacob’s Creek — Barossa
- National Wine Centre — Adelaide
- On Cockatoo Lane — Barossa
- Paulett Wines & Bush deVine Restaurant — Clare Valley
- Slate Restaurant at Pikes Wines — Clare Valley
- Tscharke Wines — Barossa
The finalists are being recognized across categories encompassing accommodation, architecture and landscape, art and culture, culinary experiences, innovative wine tourism experiences and wine tourism services.
Importantly, every shortlisted business will also be considered for the Sustainable Wine Tourism Practices Award, reflecting the growing role sustainability plays in both destination development and visitor expectations.
From South Australia to the Global Stage
The shortlisted businesses will now be assessed by an independent judging panel.
South Australian category winners are scheduled to be announced at the South Australian Wine Industry Dinner on 17 September at Adelaide’s National Wine Centre.
In October, South Australia’s winners will take their place on the global stage at the international Best Of Wine Tourism Awards in Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand, representing the region alongside the world’s leading wine tourism destinations.
