As wine tourism continues to evolve from product-focused experiences toward destination-driven engagement, Domaine Auvigue appears to be positioning itself at the forefront of this transformation.
Located in Burgundy’s Mâconnais region, Domaine Auvigue along with Domaines Loron, has unveiled a sophisticated 2026 wine tourism program that integrates terroir, heritage, gastronomy, and experiential hospitality into a unified visitor offering.
The initiative reflects a broader industry transformation now reshaping leading wine regions worldwide: wineries are no longer simply producing wine; they are building cultural destinations.
A Strategic Focus on Experience-Driven Wine Tourism
The 2026 program connects the neighboring regions of Beaujolais and the Mâconnais through curated tastings, educational workshops, heritage programming, and gastronomic events designed to deepen visitor engagement with the landscape and its wines.
Among the season’s highlights was their May 7 masterclass, “The Great White Wines of the Mâconnais,” featuring guided tastings of:
- Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru,
- Pouilly-Fuissé,
- Saint-Véran,
- and Mâcon-Villages,
paired with regional cheeses to showcase the relationship between terroir and gastronomy.
The program also underscores the growing importance of cultural preservation within wine tourism.
On September 19, during the European Heritage Days, visitors will gain access to the restored former church of Fuissé, now transformed into Domaine Auvigue’s vinification and aging facility. The project represents an important example of adaptive heritage reuse, where historic architecture becomes part of the wine experience itself.
“From Wine to the Divine”
On October 16 and 17, Domaine Auvigue will host “From Wine to the Divine,” a candlelit tasting experience held beneath historic vaulted ceilings and paired with gourmet creations by Michelin-starred chef Sébastien Chambru.
The event reflects one of the defining realities of modern wine tourism: today’s visitors increasingly seek emotional connection, authenticity, and immersive hospitality experiences alongside premium wines.
The Bigger Industry Narrative
What Domaine Auvigue is building extends beyond traditional cellar-door tourism.
It represents the continued evolution of wine regions into fully integrated lifestyle and cultural destinations, where architecture, gastronomy, landscape, and storytelling are as important as the wines themselves.
For Burgundy, and particularly the Mâconnais, this positions wine tourism not only as an economic driver, but as a long-term strategy for cultural and regional sustainability.
